*edit* This is the third time I’ve uploaded this draft. Everytime I do, I keep seeing something I could fix. Ugh, it never ends! You can’t perfect something that, by definition, is never perfect! Such is the life of the animator…

Here are the sketches I turned in from the video reference on [post=212]. I’ll be blocking out a rough pass tonight. And, oh yeah, the model I’m using this time is Stewie. He has no arms. Seriously. I’m being spoon-fed “complexity”. It’s awesome.

But in a lighter note, I’ve been reading up on different animator’s preferences for reference footage. This is a good one to check out.

If you’re still reading, there’s also a book by Wayne Gilbert called Simplified Drawing for Planning Animation. I ordered a couple copies for myself and my friend.

The Leap Over the Chasm pt1

So, we have another week to refine [post=184 text="The 180º Turn"]. While I’ll take this last week to address the changes and adjust the animation, I also have the new assignment to prepare for – The Leap Over the Chasm. I could have done one of four assignments: A run cycle, a simple leap, jumping onto a box and then down off the box, and a leap from one pole to another pole (old school kungfu style). I’ve chosen to blend the leap and the pole-leap.

As you can see in my reference footage, my character cannot use his arms for balance. In fact, Stewie, the character I’ll be using, has no arms. This is the footage:
